I am not a frequent visitor to New York but I love the place and its vibrancy, the awe-inspiring buildings and home to so many excellent musicians. I will be there from 26-30 May as a guest of the New York Staff Band of the Salvation Army
I would invite anyone in the area to come to the concert on friday 29th, in Montclair. Should be a tremendous evening the whole concert is being recorded live onto CD. Be there, but dont cough..haha !
The repertoire I'm playing is:
1. The Ransomed Host . Ray Steadman-Allan
2. Kol Nidrei . Max Bruch Arr Bram Gay
3. There will be God . Webb Arr Richard Phillips
4. Harlequin . Philip Sparke
I will also be playing in a euphonium trio, The Heralds (originally a cornet trio !)
The programme is quite contrasting, and I'm particularly pleased to be able to play Kol Nidrei once more, it's a fabulous work . I recorded this with Faireys Band and Howard Snell some years aog. It's a thrill for me to play with this famous Salvation Army Band for the first time and I'd like to say a big thank you to the band's Principal Euphonium, Aaron Vanderweele for setting up this concert for me
Full details are here below and I hope if you are in the New York area you will be able to come along
