Steve gave the 2nd ever performance of 'The Hallows' Euphonium Concerto by the German composer Rolf Rudin in Offenbach, Germany on sunday 15th March. The performance was very much enjoyed by the capacity audience at the Capitol Theatre, the home of the Neue Philharmonie Frankurt Orchestra. Special mention must go to the outstanding conductor Roland Böer who did such an incredible job in preparing the orchestra for this immensely complex score.
A video of most of the closing movement will shortly be available for viewing on the new video page on this website and other sound clips of the performance and photos will be appearing very soon.
Steve writes " it was a honour to be part of this performance, the orchestra did such a fine job with this daunting work and Roland's work was truly exemplary. It was an evening to remember. The next performance will be with the Jeju Philharmonic Orchestra in Seoul at the end of October. It will always be special to perform The Hallows Concerto. It has such depth and intensity and pushes me right to my limits. Rolf's work will stand the test of time and should be one of the ultimate goals of any professional euphonium player."
Steve had made available 5 of the 19 pages of score of the solo part, the opening page and 5th page of the 1st movement, 2 pages (including the notorious cadenza page) from the 2nd movement and the last pages from the beautiful finale....enjoy !
