Curriculum
After University diploma and master degree in Zagreb University, he studied with Branimir Slokar for two more years in Bern, Switzerland, developing his approach to almost complete trombone repertoire, from baroque to contemporary pieces.
He has been awarded many times with major awards for artistic achievements. He performed as a soloist with several orchestras, including Bern Symphony Orchestra.
Vanja Lisjak was appointed Principal Trombone of the Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra in the 1993. In addition, he has performed as principal trombonist with the Zagreb Philharmonics (with F. Shipway) for four years and with the Orquestra Sinfonica do Estado Sao Paolo in S.Paolo, Brazil (with J. Neschling).
He is a founding member and artistic leader of the Croatian Brass Quintet. With this ensemble he successfully performed in Europe and Asia.
Today, Vanja Lisjak is an active soloist, recitalist, chamber music performer, teacher, composer and arranger.
Besides playing in the orchestra and mentioned activities, he is also active as a music producer for recordings of many eminent chamber groups.
His chamber and orchestral music, often played by famous musicians and chamber groups is recently being recorded for the music fund and archives of Croatian Radio Television. Printed music by V.Lisjak is going to be available in Editions "BIM" from 2008.
Since 2008, V. Lisjak is promoting his innovative teaching method as a trombone professor of the first online music academy "E-Vivaldi". This method was developed during his 5 years of teaching on private music academy in Lovran, Croatia.
