RULES:
1. Lieksa Brass Week is organising an International Euphonium Competition during July 21st -28th, 2011. The competition is open to contestants born in 1976 or later.
2. The Lieksa International Euphonium Competition will consist of the following rounds:
Competition briefing and rehearsals with the pianists (July 21st)
* 1st round (July 22nd - 23rd)
* 2nd round (July 25th)
* Final round (July 28th)

3. Online application form should be filled in and sent at the web site www.lieksabrass.com . The application forms must be received by the competition committee by April 30th 2011.

4. The participation fee is 80 euros. The fee must be paid to Lieksa Brass Week's account: SWIFT OKOY FI HH LIEKSAN OP 534307-211092 or IBAN code FI 3453430720011092. (Name and address of the bank: Lieksan Osuuspankki, Pielisentie 9, FIN-81700 LIEKSA, Finland). Additional costs incurred in payment must be covered by the payee. If paying by cheque, please ask for further information before sending in the cheque.

The completed application form must be accompanied by:
a. official certificate or copy of passport (age-proof)
b. b. a photo (black-white) for competition brochure (preferably via Email)
c. participation fee receipt
d. short curriculum vitae for competition brochure (5-7 lines in English)

5. An accompanist for the competition is available. Competitors may bring their own accompanist at their expense. Before the first round of the competition, competitors will have the opportunity to practice with the appointed accompanist for 20 minutes and, before the 2nd round 60 minutes. In the finals, competitors will have the opportunity to practice with accompanying orchestra.

6. Briefing for the competition will be held in Lieksa on Thursday July 21st, 2011, at 10 a.m. At this briefing the order of appearance will be determined by lot and it will remain unchanged throughout the entire competition. All participants are required to be present in person during the drawing of lots.

7. Programme: The editions mentioned are only a guideline. Other editions are acceptable only on condition that the competitor informs the competition committee beforehand and provide the piano score in question for the pianists.
During the 1st and 2nd rounds the works may be performed in any order.

First round:

Lieksa Brass Week will hold an International Composition Competition to provide repertoire for the 2nd Lieksa International Euphonium Competition. The winning work of this competition will be available for the contestants in January 2011 through the competition committee. The piece will be an unaccompanied piece for euphonium.

8. The Jury will decide the number of the competitors, who will continue to the next round.

10.Prizes:
I prize 6000 euros
II prize 3000 euros
III prize 2000 euros


The results of the competition will be made public and the prizes will be awarded immediately after the final. The prizes will be awarded according to the decision of the jury. In the event of a tie, prizes may be divided. The jury's decision is final and cannot be appealed.

11.All rounds of the competition are public and the organizers have right to record, broadcast, televise or tape performances without compensation.

12.The original competition rules are in Finnish and any dispute will be resolved according to the Finnish rules.
