During his recent visit to the University of Colorado, in Boulder, Colorado, Steve did some teaching and one of his students that day was a young man who has recently moved from the UK to the USA with his family, but way too young to attend University ! During his lesson he gave a perfect rendition of Varied mood (Ray Woodfield).
He has a huge talent and is a name to listen out for in the future. His name is Patrick Clark. He's now 13, and moved with his family to Evergreen, Colorado, USA, in April 2008. He's been playing euphonium since he was about 5 and has been very well taught by his Mum. In 2006 & 2007 he was a member of the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain, whose Musical Director was Dr.Nicholas Childs and the euphonium tutors were Michael Dodd and David Childs. Prior to moving to the US, Patrick was also a member of several local bands in Oxfordshire, England, where he won various solo and local competitions. Patrick is an avid Aston Villa supporter and takes part in various sports in the US including Tae-kwon-do, skiing and mountain biking. His mum writes, "Patrick has really appreciated the opportunity to meet and learn from Steven Mead during his visit to the University of Colorado".
