It was a perfect weekend in the south of Germany with clear blue skies and leaves falling from the trees as Steve arrived for a long weekend with the ladies and gentleman boys and girls of the wind orchestra and brass band from the picturesque small town of Kirchheim, in Schwaben. Friday evening saw evening rehearsal in great hall of the castle in Kirchheim. This is a truly magnificent historic building with an immense acoustic for euphonium! The carved wooden ceiling is a protected historic piece of history and is simply breathtaking to view. Look at this link for more details: www.zedernsaal.de/eng/cedar_hall.html
The next morning, Steve gave a two hour class for all musicians from the town and many euphonium players from all over Germany, who also stayed on for a two hour low brass class in the afternoon and a masterclass/rehearsal with the brass band (formed from members of the symphonic wind orchestra).Quite a day. The atmosphere was superb all weekend and everyone learned a lot and had a great time with Steve.
A capacity audience was enthralled with the Sunday afternoon concert and standing ovations for soloist and band showed how much they enjoyed the music in the superb surroundings of the castle in Kirchheim. Thanks to Jorge Seggelke and all the band and visiting musicians for a beautiful weekend.
